Paper Piecing

Well, Good Morning to you! I am so excited today, I tried something new and it is really fun! Well....new to me anyway. I cased a card I saw on Splitcoaststampers by Suzanne, you can see it on her site at www.scrapblitz.blogspot.com She

Anyway, I used the Retro Boutique set I got at the Gina K site. I used some retired SU Designer Paper. Embellished with brads and ribbon and viola! Way cute I think.

This card is just a little different layout. The DP is a little different pattern, and I didn't piece the bodice of the dress, used a marker instead.

August is a big birthday month for me, so I have been busy making cards. If you have a big day this month and you are related to me, you just might see one of these cards.....be very surprised, okay ;0)

OCC Sketch Challenge

Well, I made this card for the OCC sketch challenge last week and have been looking at it to see if I like it. It was a really hard sketch for me. The circles in the middle just wouldn't come together. Anyway, I decided to throw it in the mix anyway......doesn't even compete with the other cards I saw......oh well, maybe it will spark and idea in someone ;>).

The cardbase is Certainly Celery, the circles, Pale Plum and So Saffron, all from Stampin' Up!. The pattern paper is DCWV and the glitter paper came from my sis...(Thanks Terri!). The brads are Bazzill. Retro Boutique (Gina K Designs) is becoming one of my all time favorite stamp sets. I have made several cards with it recently. You'll see a few more tomorrow.

Hawaii Baby!

I'M GOING TO HAWAII!!!!! Not!! Did I get you? Actually, I've never really wanted to go there or Disneyland for that matter. I'm kind of an odd duck. I enjoy going to the mountains, looking at nature and listening to the quiet.

I was looking thru old stamp magazines that I keep around to catch the dust, and saw a layout similar to this. As usually, I start out and the change almost everything as I go along. The paper is from the DCWV summer stack and is definitely Hawaiian, don't you think? I matted is with coordinating cardstock from the summer cardstack stack. (Cardbase is Stampin' Up! white). I added small round tags that I used chalk on for color, then stamped the sentiment. The metallic dots are from Joann's, as is the ribbon. Not really sure what I will do with this card......put it in the collection with the others and someday I'm sure I might need it.

Feminine Tree.......

Well, I fried my brain cells most of the day working on the class I am taking, maybe that is why I'm not so sure about this card. My goal was to make a feminine card with the "Lovely As A Tree" set. I'm not too sure about this now.

I used Elegant Eggplant for the cardbase, layered that with offwhite that I ran thru my Cuttlebug with the textile EF. Then Stampin' Up! DP from several years ago. I stamped the tree with Perfect Plum and mounted that on another offwhite scrap and used my Circle Nestibilities. This is mounted on some speckled pink and then encased in a square that I used my Square Step corner punch on. The ribbon is light pink organdy, I used my embossing gun to ruffle it up a bit. I think maybe I tried too hard on this one. What do you think?

Happy day to you! I am busily working away at my computer today to catch up for taking yesterday off. I spent the day at my daughter's home. She was having new carpet installed in one bedroom and didn't really want to be alone in the house for hours with the carpet guy.........so we watched Anne of Green Gables all day and really enjoyed ourselves.

Today I made a card using a pale yellow cardstock, layered with a dark brown. The paper is from DCWV. I dry embossed the brown layer with my textile embossing folder and Cuttlebug. (just love that little machine!) The sentiment is from a stamp I bought years ago from a company called "Ann-ticipations" I'm not sure they are even around anymore. Couldn't decide about embellishments, I tried several different things. I finally layered these two ribbons to complete the card.

TIP: When I have to work with two ribbons, I use double sticky tape to anchor the pieces so that I don't lose my mind trying to get everything to stay even. ;>)

Little Truck Birthday

Hello! Just got back from a camping trip! We had such a good time. Our oldest son and family were there also, it is so much fun to camp with family! My two oldest granddaughters are now convinced the the illusive yellow and purple fuzzywumper lives in the mountains of Idaho! hehe! The weather was perfect in the mountains and my husband got to do a little fly fishing. He hasn't been able to do this for several years because of a back injury. It was so nice to watch him enjoy this again. Watching a fly fisherman can be like poetry.....it is so smooth and looks so easy, but there really is a lot of skill involved.

I came home and finished this card that I had started before leaving on Friday. Sometimes, when you get an idea in your head that sounds quick and easy, it just doesn't come together like you had first envisioned. ;0) The little man and construction images come from the "Little Trucks" set from Stampin' Up! Card base and layered square are made from paper from Bazzill. The little blue truck was cut with a Cuttlebug die. I positioned the little man and blue truck with pop dots to make them stand out alittle. In each of the top corners of the pattern paper (DCWV) are metallic dots. I guess this will be a fun card for one of my five grandsons when a birthday arrives. ( I get to spend the day with two of them tomorrow!)
