Fun,Easy Project

I saw these calendars on Nancy Morgan's site last week and thought they were just adorable. They are quick and easy and a great way to use up some of those scraps! I plan to make some more soon, I'm busy with holiday stuff right now like everyone else!

There are only two sides showing here. It is made with a regular card size piece of card stock with a quarter of the year showing on each panel. Very fun and a nice little gift for those folks that work at a desk all day.

One More Winter Card.....

I spoke with my sister yesterday and she mentioned an idea she had for a card.......now I'm not hijacking her idea, it just got me to thinking. I had bought the Argyle embossing folder a few weeks ago and hadn't used it yet, I think it really added to this card. I used Stampin'Up! cardstock-Taken with Teal, Glossy White, and Whisper White. The DP is SU-Ski Slope. The snowflakes were punched with a Martha Stewart snowflake punch out of Glitter paper I purchased at Target. (I LOVE it!) I used the Swirls embossing folder for the glossy layer. The sentiment is from Inkadinkado and stamped with Taken With Teal ink. The card base is White stock from Gina K-awesome!! (thanks Terri!) It is heavy so it doesn't bow with alot of layers.

Thanks for looking today! God Bless!

Finally Time to Stamp!

I trust everyone had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends. My week was a pretty busy with schedule changes at work, we did get to finally have Thanksgiving on Saturday. A few days late, but having family together is the most important part of the day for us. I finally got to sit down and do a little stamping last night. I was surfing on SplitCoast yesterday and saw several cards for a color challenge they had going. This got me to thinking.....the colors I used here are similar to the challenge, but not what they were subscribing, so I guess I can't put this in the challenge, but anyway, that is where the idea came from. See details below:

Supplies: Cardstock-Silver, White and Glossy are from Stampin' Up!. Black is from my stash. Ink: Going Gray, Basic Black-Stampin' Up! Stamps: Upsy Daisy and sentiment are both SU. Accessories: Word Window Punch, Square Brad.

Thanksgiving Centerpiece

Look at this!!!!!!! My awesome husband made this centerpiece for us for Thanksgiving. It is sooo cool. The pic doesn't really do it justice. It is kind of large, so I didn't have a good place to stage the photo. It is made from a limb that he trimmed from one of our trees. He drilled holes for tea lights to sit in and added foliage that he bought at Michaels. It is on a base with dried moss. It is about 2 feet lone and the highest part of it is about a foot high.

My husband is such a wonderful guy!! He is so thoughtful! Enjoy your day.....I hope to get some stamping done soon so I can post again. God Bless!!

Snowman Winter

Hello!!! My goodness, time goes by so quickly. I find myself in a creative slump these days.....my work schedule doesn't allow for much creative time. There is a light at the end of my tunnel. I may have another opportunity in the coming weeks to follow the career path more to my liking.
While I am thankful for the position that I now hold, it is a struggle to work each day because the schedule is hard. I struggle to keep a good attitude about work, which is not really like me, I'm generally a pretty upbeat person. Well, enough whining already!!!
This card is kind of a stretch, I don't really like it, but at least I finished something....

Good Monday to you all! I trust you had a wonderful weekend. We were planning a pretty quiet one here, but things changed for the better. We babysat g-kids on Friday night and spent Saturday with our daughter-in-law. On Sunday evening, our oldest son and his brood came by for dinner and a soak in the hot tub. It was all good. We woke with smiles on our faces this morning. :>)

Simple.....but Elegant

Looking forward to the weekend? We should have a pretty quiet one here. It is supposed to be rainy.......maybe a pot of soup is in order.
Today's card is made from a sketch I used several years ago. The background is done with the "Script" background stamp (Retired Stampin' Up!). I masked the center area with an oval piece of paper so that I could place the tulip bulb image. I used my Scallop Edger on the Navy (Bazzil) and Silver (SU) cardstock and then pierced the scallops with my mat pack and paper piercer. The finishing touch is Navy Organdy ribbon (Retired SU). Flower image is colored with markers.

Trees....I love this set!

I just love the "Lovely as a Tree" set from Stampin' Up! I have used it often. This time it is for an older gentleman that shares the same birthday as my husband. WOW! Check Out This Cause....

While perusing thru my daily blog list, I came across this information on Dawn Easton's blog. Carolyn King, has posted a Blog Candy for a Cause challenge to us all. She would like to have as many cards made to Alzheimer caregivers to say "Thank You", as we can come up with.....I know there are a bunch of us out there who would love to help. Check out her link above for all the details and send someone a special thank you.......below is the card I'm sending.

The image is one I have had for a really long time, I purchased it from Close to my Heart years ago. I woke up the other night, thinking.......I could color that spray with fall colors. This is what I came up with, I know the reds in the spray look sort of pinky, but they are really a nice fall red. The card base is Riding Hood Red, layered with Cream Confetti that I ran thru the Cuttlebug, using the Swiss Dots EF. I layered the image with YoYo Yellow and Brilliant Blue cardstock. (all card stock is Stampin' Up!) The borders are embellished with pearl dew drops.
Thanks for looking again today and be sure and check out the important blog links mentioned above! Have a happy day and God Bless!!

Got Cake?!

Sorry I have been absent again......I have finished taking my classes and now am studying for a Certification test, so my brain cells are really tired! Also, I had an interview on Friday. I think things went well. They are still interviewing candidates today and I hope to hear from them sometime tomorrow. Keep your toes crossed for me! ;0).
I made this card for the swap my sisters and I do. The stamped image is from Inkadinkado. It is a Birthday set that is so cute! Cardbase is Green Galore, layered with Lovely Lilac. The panel to the left is Pink Passion, run thru the Cuttlebug with the Happy Birthday EF. All aforementioned cardstock is from Stampin' Up!.
Pattern paper is DCWV. Brads are from JoAnnes.
Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day!

Rejoice in Today

Happy Tuesday! I have another busy computer day. I am finishing a brochure for my hubby and his partner, it has been a process, since they want something much more professional looking than they had ordered in the beginning. It is good to get experience with programs I have not learned, so I guess even with the frustration-it's all good. :=)
Today's card is a gentle reminder to self to not let negativity creep in when I hit that frustration level. I used to just give up, but have learned to just take a few steps back, take a deep breath and try again. (SCS is a great stress reliever at these times)

Cardbase is Pacific Point layered with Confetti White. I used my Scallop Edger on the patterned paper, as well as another piece of Confetti White. The sentiment piece is layered on Brilliant Blue and stamped with Tempting Turquoise. The corners were punched with the Ticket Corner Punch and then blingage was added at each corner. 1 1/4 inch ribbon completes the card. ( i sure can't figure out that fuzzy spot on my pic.....)
OH! I finally got the call I have been waiting for, I have an interview on Friday morning! I will also be ordering my new laptop that I have been working towards this summer.......It's gonna be a great day!
Thanks for stopping by! God Bless!

Happy Harvest #2

Good Day to you all. Sorry I have been MIA these last few days.....life happens! We spent the day yesterday with our daughter-in-law and g-babies at the Gunfighter Skies 2008 Air Show at the air base near us. What an AWESOME display and show of our military power and support! Our son was not with us, as he is in Afghanistan. This is a show he loves and we certainly missed having him with us. We were pretty teary eyed as the jets that he maintains were performing. We LOVE you Jim! Below are a few pics of the Thunderbirds who also performed. They are certainly a finely trained group of individuals who showcase the Air Force for us.

The Thunderbird aircraft, parked before the show. They are beautiful!

One of their most famous formations. This is awesome to see, as these jets are traveling at a high rate of speed, with little space between them The pilots carry so much responsibility, not only for their aircraft, but for those in the other 5 jets flying with them.
Now, on to my card......(thanks for your patience ;0) )

The cardbase is Tangerine Tango, layered with More Mustard, Confetti White and a small strip of pattern paper from DCWV. Stamp set is Happy Harvest (retired SU). Ribbon and brads are from JoAnns.
(I apoligize for that glare in the middle....these old eyes don't seem to be working today)
Thanks for stopping by today, I'm hoping to keep up a little better this week!! Have a happy day! God Bless!

Julee's OSW Challenge!

Good day to you all! Well, I put my boots and shades on and stepped out of my comfort zone and tried a new challenge this week! Julee had posted a "One Sheet Wonder" challenge on her blog

Poetic Artistry, as one of her Mojo challenges. I decided to try it and I must say, it was a challenge for me. As you know rulers/measurements and I don't always get along! (I can take you computer apart and put it back together again, but don't ask me to measure ANYTHING and have it come out okay!) So, my DH cut the paper for me! (He's a contractor, so he CAN measure correctly!) The rules required that we make 4 cards using one 6 x 6 piece of double-sided DP, (and of course other cardstock for the base). After giving him a kiss for helping me out, I then set out with the sketches and below is what I came up with. I liked how they turned out.

As you can see, I struggled with the lighting, I shot pics in the evening and didn't like them, so I waited until morning and still ended up with shadows. Then the wind started to blow and I was worried about not getting these posted in time.........but life goes on ;>).

All cards started with a Ruby Red base, I layered with Cameo Coral and Retired Stampin' Up! DP (Sorry). The stamp sets used are Absolutely Fabulous and Oh, So Lovely. Embellishments include; Ribbon-Stampin' Up!, Brads-JoAnn's, GinaK Designs, Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots EF, Treading Water Edger-Fiskars and of course Close to Cocoa ink from SU.

This was definitely a great challenge ! I encourage you to try one some time. Have a great day! God Bless!
