BBQ Invite

Good Day to you........ today I have an invitation to a BBQ that we are hosting for my son. He will be deployed to Afghanistan in the few weeks and we all wanted to get together before he goes. We will also be celebrating his birthday, as it falls just a few days after he leaves. I can honestly say I didn't really enjoy making this one......for obvious reasons. As the time for his leaving gets closer, I just don't want to think about him over there. The military does prepare the men they send, and their immediate families, but I'm not so sure about the moms......We are very proud of our son and the part he is playing to keep our country safe.
This card is pretty straight-forward. There is no bling or embellishment-but thats the military for you. I used kraft cardstock, with patterned paper that has similar Air Force colors. The stamped image is the closest I could come to a military boot. The font I used is called "Batik Regular", I wanted it to look military also.
Well, there it is, now I'm off to make several more of the same.
HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY! THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!

Joy Fold Card

Happy Day to everyone! The layout of this card is called a "Joy Fold". I have to tell you, I wasn't having a lot of joy while making it! Measuring and I have never been the best of friends, I usually eyeball things. The tutorial on SCS uses specific directions, so I that I'd better comply if I was going to make this work! I think the picture looks better than the real card....maybe it will grow on me. Usually, when I don't really like how something turns out, others do! Weird, huh.
Anyway, here goes: The cardbase is Ruby Red layered with Apricot Appeal, both from Stampin' Up! Patterned Paper from the Spring Stack-DCWV. ( I just love these....they are a great value!) The stamped image is from the $1.99 bin at Archivers. Brads and Ribbon are Making Memories. I used a Sharpie to put polka dots on my white ribbon to give it some pizazz. I think I will try this "Joy Fold" thing again, maybe I will have better luck and it will come easier!

Gotta go mow the lawn....have a great day!

A Veritable Potpourri!!

Hello, hello. Hoping this day finds you well.......today's card is a potpourri of companies. I think the only Stampin' Up! supply on the whole card is the cardstock I used to punch out the flower, and the daisy punch, of course!
This is pretty rare for me. I did have a time with this one. The cardbase is a dark brown paper, with textured sky blue from DCWV layered with patterned paper from the same stack. I used my Cuttlebug to cut the corners and set dew drops from Robin's Nest on them. The big chunky brad holding the flower is from Basic Gray and the sentiment is from an acrylic set by Heidi Grace.
I warned you ........there are several of different companies represented. Let's just say this is my way of supporting the economy! ;0)
Have a HAPPY day. Thanks for stopping by!

Friendly

Good Morning! What a fun weekend we had! Saturday, as aways is our just relax and rest day.
we always stay home and spend the day together. On Sunday, my daughter, son-in-law and boys piled into the Suburban and drove to the Air Force Base where my youngest son lives to celebrate his daughter' 3rd Birthday. It was such fun, watching all the kids playing in the water and some of the adults also! Didn't do much stamping this weekend though.......I am looking forward to it this week. I am also taking a class for the next couple of weeks, so my time will be a little more precious.
Onward to today's card.........the cardbase here is glossy white, layered with yellow that has been dry embossed with my Cuttlebug. The image is from the " Lexicon of Love" set from Stampin' Up! I layered that with a scrap of paper from the trusty scrap box....it originally came from DCWV. After adding pink square brads (JoAnne's), ribbon and a swirly wire for embellishment, this card looked finished.
Have a great Monday, looks like the start of the great week!

Black and White

Good Morning! It is cool in my neck of the woods this morning! I'm grateful for that! It is supposed to HEAT way up for the weekend. Thank the good Lord for central air.
Today's card is a simple one using just black and white. The contrast is always so stunning and elegant to me. I used glossy cardstock for the base, then for one of the layers I used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dot EF. The stamped image is a retired SU set "Beautiful Butterflies". It is from several years ago, but is a set that I still use frequently. I used very black cardstock and black grosgrain ribbon for the embellishment.
I will be using this card for a Wedding card for a nephew who is tying the know in a few weeks. I wish you best of luck Brian and Jocelyn! (I'm sure they don't surf craft blogs......but my sis might....be surprised Pam!)
I will be spending the weekend with family. My son who is in the Air Force will be home today, he has been gone for two weeks training for his deployment to Afghanistan. We are celebrating his daughter's birthday while he is home. Have a great day and an even better weekend!

Not So Sure

HMMMMM, I'm not so sure about this one. I looked and looked at it because it just didn't seem right. I finally added the fiber to the left side, not so sure it helped. Anyway, the stamps are from the Retro Boutique set that I bought from Gina K Designs. All cardstock except the background paper is from Stampin'Up! The background paper is from DCWV. I used my Word Window punch for the sentiment and Ticket Corner punch on the layered image. White square brads from JoAnne's finished it off, I guess. All I can really say is...."it's off, alright". Just can't get to like this card.
Thanks for stopping to go HMMMM with me today. Have a good one!

Gettin' Brave Again!!

Well, I'm getting brave again....this time it's pretty scary for me, since I'm a hide in the corner kinda gal.......I made this card for the Our Creative Corner dry embossing challenge this week. I used the Cuttlebug for the dry embossing on Green Galore cardstock. The card base and matting if Not Quite Navy-All from Stampin' Up! The patterned paper is DCWV and the brads are from Basic Grey. The stamp is a Clear Stamp Happy Birthday set.
Let me know what you think......thanks so much for taking the time to look! Have a great day!

Just For You Cupcake

Another fun card with my cupcakes! This set is soooo much fun! The Berry Bliss DP works well here, I think, as well as the scallop circle from Nestibilites. I used liquid applique for the frosting......gave it an extra bunch because I like lots of frosting on my cake! (It's butter cream of course!) The sentiment comes from a Fiskars Heidi Grace acrylic set. I used the Word Window punch from Stampin' Up! and finished them with square brads from JoAnne's. I again used Berry Bliss DP to paper piece the cupcake cup, I love how it all coordinates!
Well, today my big plans are to get the lawn mowed while it is still cool outside and then come and play with the goodies I got from Gina K Designs yesterday!! Fun for me! Have a great day today and stay cool!
I'm not sure what happened with this post.....I don't know if it is me or blogger. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Retro Fun

Well, this was REALLY fun. It reminds me of my daughter. I know she will like the design, although she is not always a real "PINK" girl. Sorry, Beck...... The stamps are from the "Retro Boutique" set that I purchased from GinaKDesigns.
I used my Berry Bliss DP from Stampin' Up! (can't seem to get away from that stuff lately!) The ink and cardstock (Pink Passion) are also from Stampin' Up!. The card base is Confetti Cream. For the rectangle, I used my good 'ole Fiskars Edgers. (those have been around awhile, huh) and for the circle, my Small Scalloped Nestibility. The ribbon is from Offray and the Brads from JoAnne's. i working on another card from this set......it is so fun!

Have a wonderiforous day!! Thanks for stopping by!

Gather Friends

Good Monday to you! Hoping your weekend was a great one! We spent Sunday at a State Park close to us having a picnic and swimming with kids and g-kids. We had a great time, ate too much and got a lot of sun....some of us are paying for it today! My hubby kissed me good-bye this morning and said, "See ya later lobster legs." Funny guy, but it is true, haven't had a good burn like this in a lot of years.......all the more reason to stay in a cool room and stamp I guess....

Burnt To A Crisp (Can't be all bad......) I enjoyed using by Berry bliss DP on this card, Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip cardstock are used for the card base and for layering. The sentiment is from a Linda Grayson stamp that I have had for years, but haven't used much, just inked up the words with a marker and tada...worked for this card. The flourish is from a Heidi Grace clear stamp set, it is stamped in Close to Cocoa ink. The cute little square brads are from JoAnne's.

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you day is good, I will be slathering on the lotion and hoping not to blister :>)

Thinking of You

What a fun time I had making this one! I took the idea from an old Stampin'Up! catalog. (I have saved these for years for ideas........also it's fun to see the evolution that the paper craft hobby has made.) I didn't have the exact stamps, but this is what makes it fun..... I used Smorgasborders and a miscellaneous heart stamp. The ink is Tempting Turquoise and Close to Cocoa. I love these colors together. The ribbon is Offray from Walmart....it was my inspiration for the color combo ;0). The "thinking of you" stamp is from inkadinkado. Tag is again Stampin' Up!

I hope you are enjoying my creations as much as I am enjoying making them. Leave me a comment to let me know your thoughts. Have a happy day!! Thanks for stopping by for a look!

Friends and Flowers

Good Wednesday morning to you all! This card was alot of fun to make. I was surfing SCS and saw bits and pieces of things I liked and threw them altogether on this card. The sentiment is from a retired Stampin'Up! set from years ago. (I have alot of those ;0) ). The flowers are from a Hero arts clear set. I stamped the images and then chalked over the white cardstock with lavender chalk. The paper is bits and pieces from my scrap box. Tip: Before I throw away a small piece of paper, I use my word window punch and my corner cut die to use up the piece a little more. Then I don't feel like I'm wasting any paper! Of course the Brads and ribbon are from JoAnne's. The card base is from SU.

Have a most wonderful day today! Thanks for stopping by!

Cute Birthday Invitation

Hi......I didn't get to post yesterday, I was babysitting g-kids all day for my daughter, they are moving into a new house this weekend. It;s a beautiful home and much closer to her hubby's work. I was plum tuckered when the little guys left, they are 6 months and 2 years old. Good little guys and fun to have around. We had a great day!
My daughter-in-law spent the night with us on Thursday night with her two little ones. She was able to spend some time in the craft room making invitations for her little girl's 3rd birthday party in a few weeks. She is allowing me to show it to you all....it is soooo cute! She does nice work!
This is a pocket card and the invitation info is on the pull-out at the top. The cupcake idea for the pull tab is adorable. Have a bright-sunshiny day!! Thanks for stopping by!

The stamps from this set come from a Fiskars Clear set that I bought recently from JoAnne's. My wonderful hubby is turning the big 50 this year and there is a stamp in this set that is in number 50. Fun Thank You Set

Good day to you! I got to sit down and play a bit yesterday and had a great time! One of the things I worked on is shown below. It is a set of four Thank You cards. I used one of the new clear stamp sets that I purchased at Archiver's. Clear Stamps give a clean image and they are so much less expensive than some others because you don't need the wood blocks. They peel and stick to acrylic blocks. Storage will take a lot less room also. These are 4x4 cards and came together quickly and turned out sooo cute!

They colors on this second picture look a little different, I'm sure it is because I put the card up against a different color to shot the single card.

Supplies: Cardstock-Confetti White, Rose Red-Stampin' Up! Nestibilities Small Circle Scallop Die, Stamp: Thank You Clear Stamp-Archivers, Ribbon-JoAnne's

Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

HUGE MISTAKE!!

I made a HUGE mistake and need to extend my apologies. On Monday's post I stated that I had gotten the card idea from Amy Sheffler's blog. This is not correct. The cute sketch actually came from Kelly Schelske. Kelly, I am so sorry.....this is what I get for putting notes on the same pad as the one I use for other computer work! Won't be doing that anymore.

Tuesday, July 1, 2008

Hello from really warm Idaho! It is good to stay under the air conditioner these days. Sweaty
Oh, well it is cool in the stamp room! I have been doing some computer work for my hubby and his partner, so it cramps my creativity a bit.......thinking too hard is BAD.....the days seem to go so quickly and I don't seem to get much done.
Today my card can be used for either an anniversary, feminine birthday or maybe even a sympathy card. I will be using it for a friend's anniversary next week.

Supplies: I believe everything you see here is retired from Stampin' Up! The brads and ribbon are from JoAnne's

My Sis and I went to Archivers the other day and I am anxious to use the new clear stamps I bought there. I can see MANY clear stamps in my future!

Stay cool and have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!
